Goal for this week.....

The words of Jesus in John 10:27 say:

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."

If we love Jesus, we will obey Him and follow
Him. We learn to obey Him, by listening to His voice
in the scriptures.

In "Devotions for a Sacred Marriage", Gary Thomas
writes about this verse relates to our marriages.
If we love our husbands, we will listen to them.

Let us make it our goal to LISTEN more, and talk
less. He quotes from Proverbs 10:19, which
says that, "When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise." Let us see the positive effect, that using this scripture, will have in our marriages!

What is Your Purpose in Life?

I recently purchased, "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick
Warren, and published by Zondervan. This book came highly
recommended to me by a dear friend of mine. It is divided into
40 chapters, symbolic of the number 40, which is a spiritually
transforming number in scriptures. The author recommends
that you read one chapter per day, ponder on it, and react to it.
He recommends reading the book with another friend, so you
can encourage each other, and discuss the books thoughts together.

He begins the book with DAY ONE: "It All Starts With God". His
main point is, "To discover your purpose in life you must turn to
God's Word, not the world's wisdom." (page 20) He quotes from
a variety of translations, trying to select the best passage to
illustrate the examples he has chosen.

"In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according
to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with
the purpose of his will." (Ephesians 1:11)

THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE (by Rick Warren)

I have begun reading chapter one today, and was excited to share
this book with you! Feedback to me at my e-mail address would be
greatly appreciated!

My Favorite Cookbook

I thought today that I would share my favorite cookbook with you. If I had to narrow down my cookbook collection to one book, this would be it! I began using this cookbook when I had two preschoolers and one little newborn. They were not eating a lot of food at the time. The recipes are very easy to adjust, you only prepare the amount you need. This is ONE cookbook I will NOT part with!! "IT IS A KEEPER!!" I used the older version, which is now out of print. It was called: "The Complete Make-A-Mix Cookbook". The new book looks like it is also available on CD, but is available in book form as well. ALL the recipes that I can remember using, were "from scratch"......NO CANS, other than using a can of tomato sauce or something like that. I LOVE THIS COOKBOOK!! It is FANTASTIC!! It has a FIVE star rating on AMAZON. I was introduced to the book by a homeschooling mother of six, who was EXTREMELY organized!! I asked her how she did it, and she said that the cookbook REALLY saved her time. It was her "key" to survival in the kitchen!! She asked me to try it out for three weeks, (it takes 21 days to develop a good habit), and I was sold on it! The front and back covers of her book were worn off, which tells you how much she loved and used this cookbook!
The Make-A-Mix Cookbook: Easy Make-Ahead Mixes for Every Meal (Paperback) This cookbook contains mix recipes, that will save you TONS of time!! It contains a large variety of mixes, that will provide you with an abundance of choices for your menus. I LOVE this cookbook! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1555610730/ref=pd_null_recs_b_t/104-0116740-2822304?v=glance&s=books

How to Donate Your Steps to Research!

To donate your steps to research, simply log into:

http://www.canadaonthemove.ca

You will be given a simple questionnaire to complete,
and then your steps will be kept as a record, and you
can print off graphs recording your progress!! This may
motivate some of you to "stick" with your goals, since they
would like you to keep track of your daily steps and log
them in. This research is being done through a Canadian
university.

Goal For This Week (To Encourage)

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." (I Thessalonians 5:11)
To often we forget to put our marriages, on our "to do" list of life's priorities.
Let us make our relationships with our husbands and/or families a top priority this week!
Some practical suggestions to show our appreciation are:
-prepare a favorite meal or recipe
-mend some pants, buttons, etc.
-spend some time together, doing something special!
-tell them how much you mean to them (or write a note)
Try to think of something special to do for you dear husband (DH) this week. If you have any ideas, please e-mail me them, and I can post them, to share with this group!! I'd LOVE to hear from you!!

Are You Exercising??

It is important to keep physically active. There are various exercise plans available, which enable you to exercise at home. One of my FAVORITE exercise plans is the Xbx plan by the Royal Canadian Air Force. It takes only 15 minutes a day, out of your busy schedule. I love this program, since this is a manageable block of time to work with. Their program starts you off VERY gradually, and builds you up your endurance slowly. It is adapted to your specific age group. There is also a 5bx program for men. (My father used it for years!) If you would like to read more about it, please visit my blogspot. ALL you will need, is a timer, exercise mat (or towel on your carpet), and the pocket book, which is very reasonably priced.

One Year Bible Readings (with THE ONE YEAR - NEW TESTAMENT)

Several members indicated to me, that reading through the Bible in one year would be a difficult task for them, due to work commitments, and other duties that consumed large blocks of time in their lives. There is a ONE YEAR - NEW TESTAMENT available, which divides up the New Testament into 365 daily readings, with verses from Proverbs, given at the end of each daily reading.

THE ONE YEAR NEW TESTAMENT (by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.)
(ISBN 0-8423-2638-3)

Some women have indicated that they intend to do the Old Testament readings one year, and the New Testament Readings the following year. Some may even take three years, and do the Psalms and Proverbs reading during the third year. There are various reading plans available.

Here is a LINK to reading through the New Testament in a year:

Hope this helps some of you ladies out!!

Motivational Pedometer Chart (Try using plastic page protectors!)

Organizing Annie: organizingannie@yahoo.ca; wrote:
Good morning ladies!! Is anyone using the "Motivational Pedometer Chart"?
Is it working for you? Please let me know, by e-mailing me at the cc address.
I have put mine in a plastic page protector, and hung it on the wall in my kitchen. That way, I don't have to print off a new one each day. I can just wipe it off! The steps, with the time slots, help to keep me motivated through out the day. It sets a specific target, to aim for. This can be used with the "to do" list you make up the night before.
Did anybody else try ordering a pedometer with their Airmiles?http://www.airmiles.ca/ (It comes with a safety strap, which is really helpful!)
Hope you are all doing well! May the Lord strengthen you with the tasks ahead. Remember Psalm 50:15:
"Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."
