The recommended rate to lose weight.........

I recently attended several workshops for diabetics, and those with high cholesterol, as a preventative measure, since these illnesses run in our family. The doctor (a specialist in cardiac care patients), recommended that you target a weight loss of 0.5 pounds/week! If you lose MORE than that, you are more likely to "gain it back", according to the latest research. This is what he, and the dietician recommended:

a) PUT YOUR WEIGH SCALE AWAY!! (It will only serve to discourage and demotivate you, since hormones and other factors can cause weight fluctuations.)
b) INVEST IN A PEDOMETER! (Walk 12,000 to 17,000 steps/day to lose weight and "keep it off"!

An excellent pedometer supplier is: http://www.stepscount.com

Hope this advise helps some of you ladies out!!
